FAQs

What's the difference between a general contractor and a restoration company for fire or water damage?

It's a fair question, since both can technically "fix" the damage. The difference is in what happens before the repair starts.

A general contractor typically steps in once the damage is stable and visible, focused on rebuilding what's there. A restoration company is trained to handle the damage while it's still active, which means:

  • Extracting water or addressing fire byproducts (soot, smoke residue) before they spread further
  • Identifying hidden moisture or structural weakness that isn't visible yet
  • Understanding drying timelines and mold risk windows, not just rebuild timelines
  • Documenting damage in a way that supports an insurance claim, not just a repair estimate

Titus does both restoration and remodeling, so we can stabilize the damage, work the insurance side, and then rebuild the space, all under one point of contact instead of handing you off between companies.
